Narrative CreepyPasta Game made in Twine

5 Rules to Survive Tower 3 is a narrative-driven game that immerses players in a chilling tale, inspired by various CreepyPasta stories. The game is designed to evoke suspense and curiosity, drawing players into its mysterious world.

This game began as a class project for a narrative game development course, where I experimented with Twine, a tool for creating interactive stories. However, it eventually took on a life outside of the classroom. I wanted to giv the player a sense of agency in the story, allowing them to make choices that would affect theoutcome of the game. The narrative is structured around a series of choices that lead to different endings, encouraging players to explore various paths and uncover the secrets of Tower 3 and the surrounding wilderness.

At the time, I had been reading and listening to a lot of CreepyPasta stories. One of the more popular sub-genres is the rules-based CreepyPastas where someone, usually a new employee, receives a weird and ominous list of rules. Failure to adhere to these rules can often be hazardous to the protagonist. So, I thought this could be a good concept for a narrative video game.

This was one of those projects that I kept working on right up until midnight. Not because I was procrastinating but because I kept getting more ideas and incorporating them into a branching narrative proved quite challenging. Therefore, I will say that the end is not quite as polished and I will be fixing that.

It was a great learning experience in how branching narratives can give stories a different perspective. The concept of what could have been if I had made different choices. This is something I want to continue exploring in future game development projects on an even deeper level.
